We've had a wide range of outputs from students this year on this module with different visual treatments and processes too. I thought it useful here to offer up a set of examples of the final A2 student design boards supplied to the client at the National Archives in London.
Student feedback from linked reflective written work (anonymised):

"I found it intriguing to research a range of activity sheets; various early learning activities; and the theoretical aspect of colours and fonts; which could be engaging for a young child. This knowledge, alongside the feedback from my user testing, was invaluable for strengthening my (e)learning resource. In response to my user testing, I immediately added a few letters, for the complex answers in my crossword, as a starting point for the child."

"I have really enjoyed this module due to the scope of learning I have personally been able to do. I have learnt a lot about historic design and psychology in detail that I hadn’t gone into before. I think designing for a real client was a motivator of mine as it really encouraged me to dig deeper into the topic in order to create the most suitable design I could."

"Getting experience in a completely different design area that I had
not thought about before was very interesting. Usually, when creating designs, they are for an older target audience, so I
can relate more to what they would like, so making this for 9-11year olds meant that I needed to do more research to understand what educational elements needed to go in. I found the different lectures each week to be very beneficial in aiding my understanding of children and how they learn. I thoroughly enjoyed making the characters and experimenting with the different aspects of the book and the journey throughout."

"In conclusion, I think this module has helped me learn more about myself and what I can offer to children’s (publishing). There are a lot of good things I learned during this module and I think there are some things that will stay with me later. I really liked this module and I think it deserves to be reviewed as one of the best this year."
